end of March

-On one of our sunny Sunday walks, Jenna and Liam brought a magnifying glass and proceeded to inspect every rock and blade of grass. It was the slowest walk. ever.

-Our library closed for 2 weeks to move to a new building. The new library has a much better layout and some new touch screen computers. Just one more reason to love the library!

-I would love this picture so much more if Liam had pants on, but it's still so cute!

-Tuesday:
I was making dinner for another family, and halfway through I realized I was missing some ingredients. I kept going anyway, and then completely ruined the sauce everything was supposed to cook in. It was too late to make anything else so I threw everything salvageable into a pan (quinoa, broccoli, and chicken), added rolls and cookies, and called it a meal. And then we had frozen pizza for ourselves. Someday I'll figure out the whole cooking thing...

-I had to document that Gavin is finally eating real food.

-Gavin was nursing for an extra long time one day, and I came up to find Liam had already started his nap. Love the bum in the air!

Now that I think about it, there are a lot of days where Liam isn't wearing pants! When Paul gets home from work he likes to say "Liam, where are your paaaaants?" (like in The Lego Movie)

-I don't think I've mentioned our Harry Potter cupboard yet! It's our cupboard under the stairs where we like to keep the toys we're too lazy to bring up when we're cleaning. It's a great place for the boys to play.

-In college some of my friends liked to make fun of me because I frequently "perched" on the backs and edges of couches. I'm happy to say that I have passed on the "perching" gene!

-Saturday:
In the morning we went to our ward's Primary Talent Show. We didn't have the time to prepare a stage talent, so Jenna whipped up this drawing of a bunny in about 2 minutes:

After a very entertaining Talent Show, Paul stayed behind to set up for the Elder's Quorum pinewood derby activity. One of the guys attached a CO2 cartridge to his little car, so you can imagine the kind of fun they had!

In the afternoon Jenna and I went to get our hair cut. It had been over a year (yikes!) since I had mine cut, and it was the first time someone other than myself cut Jenna's. She spent the entire time in the chair not talking and with a stern look on her face, but as soon as it was over she was bouncing around saying she had a great time!
Jenna really wanted her hair cut to her chin. Paul and I were hesitant, but we let her do it. As soon as she saw her new do she said "see mom? I told you it would look good!" And it really does. I didn't take before and after pictures (darn) but you can see it better in the next post.

That night was the Women's Broadcast for our church, and our stake invited us to come for refreshments beforehand. I was the first girl from our ward there, and since I like reminding Paul that being on time isn't always a good thing, I sent him a text complaining that I didn't even recognize a single person. I made it sound way worse than I actually felt because I wanted him to feel bad for me! But as soon as I hit send, I realized that I had actually sent it to the Sister Missionaries! Ooops! They were sweet and tried to act like they were just about to ask me if anyone was there yet, but still. So embarrassing.

Gavin: nine months

Gavin jumped down from the 40th percentile in height and weight to the 15th and 8th percentiles. But since his dad, sister, and cousin all did the same thing I'm not stressing about it. Besides, his big head is standing firm in the 85th percentile!

9 months must have been the magic number for Gavin, because the day he turned 9 months was the day he finally decided to eat real food. And he jumped right in! He's eating a bunch and even feeding himself. He loves chomping on bananas and crackers with his 3 teeth.

He continues to be a complete and total Mama's boy! To the point where I can't even hand him to someone else to play the piano for Relief Society, or his his own dad when I am in the room!

My daily battles with him include changing his diaper, getting him dressed, and trying to put him down. High main.ten.ence.

His favorite things to do now are knocking things over and emptying any sort of container.

It amazes me, because with the limited number of minutes a day he spends not in my arms, he has already mastered standing and even taken a few steps!

We have "eh" "da" and "ga" conversations all the time, and he gives big kisses by trying to eat our faces! So cute!

Gavin has such a big personality! He's the loudest and most demanding of my kids. I like to say he's a toddler trapped in a baby's body.
He's entertaining for sure, this crazy boy of ours!

Jenna's 7th

Jenna's birthday weekend was so much fun!

Thursday, the 12th:

It all started with a house full of balloons and streamers, a donut breakfast, and then off to school.
Then the boys and I made brownies and brought them to celebrate with Jenna's class during snack time. We sang Happy Birthday and Liam went crazy running around the fishy-themed classroom!

Then, before she got home from school, came the best birthday present: Grandma drove up from South Carolina to spend the weekend with us! Jenna knew she was coming, and was so so excited to get home!
She was also excited for Paul to get home, because that meant she could open her presents!

She got some Frozen PJ's and toys, Jasmine, Scooby-Doo comics, a locket, chemistry set, and the show-stopper: a joke book. We were treated to non-stop jokes for days and days (thanks Grandma! haha).

Jenna again chose to have her birthday dinner at the super-posh restaurant McDonalds, where Gavin got his first taste of deep fried deliciousness:

He couldn't stop licking it

We went to Barnes and Noble for Jenna's free birthday cupcake and our traditional birthday book.

And then Paul got us tickets in a suite at the Globetrotters game! They are such a hoot! Jenna really got in to the game, and we all had a great time!

Friday, the 13th:

My mother-in-law and I spent the day making Jenna's cake and decorating for her party.
It was the easiest party for me to throw, because my little type-A daughter planned everything herself. I tried to suggest some games and asked her if I could surprise her with some activities, but she was adamant that everything was planned out and on her list:

It was a pajama party! We invited a bunch of girls, but because of flu season and family trips only 4 girls were able to come. Which now I'm grateful for, because those adorable girls were crazy!

We started the party by letting the girls decorate personalized pillowcases (the only activity that Jenna actually let me suggest, and the quietest few moments of the party).

The rest of the party seemed to go by pretty fast:

And now I've got a SEVEN year old!!

Saturday, the 14th:

Jenna's school had their spring carnival in the morning. It was mostly just a bunch of tossing games with cheap prizes, but the kids had fun, the school made some money, and grandma bought us all ice cream afterwards!

In the afternoon Jenna finally got to open her chemistry set.

We finished the day off by celebrating Pi Day with pizza pie and apple pie

It was a Happy Happy Birthday for our amazing Jenna-fish!!
