Hmmm...

Lately, Jenna has been getting attached to a different toy every day and just wants to carry it around for a while. It's like a rotating security blanket.
Today, it was the inflatable pool ring. She stepped in and out of it (while saying "tep, tep, tep!"), carried it around her waist up and down the stairs, and:

She wouldn't even take it off to eat!

Spencer's Birthday

Happy Birthday Spencer! To celebrate, we got you:

an embarrassing video!

Jenna may not have dug into her own birthday cake, but she had NO trouble digging into Spencer's!

I think it was the cream cheese frosting. The girl has taste!

Are the 80's back?

While Paul and I were at the Secondhand Serenade concert - which was fantastic, by the way! - we noticed that most of the high-school-aged kids were decked out in 80's fashions. High top shoes, bright neons, etc.
Is this just a Utah thing, or are the 80's back?!?

Paul: Doesn't it usually take 20-30 years for fashions to come back?
Kali: Sweetie, it's almost 2010. It's been 20-30 years since the 80's...

Paul and Kali: We're getting old :(

Seven Peaks! Woo!

Last Thursday, Paul took the day off and we went to Seven Peaks!
Unfortunately, I didn't bring my camera. BUT, it's probably a good thing, because then there would be evidence that my 1-year old daughter is tanner than I am. :(
seriously...
I must have paid a lot more attention to Jenna's sunscreen than my own, because she walked away unscathed, and I had several odd-shaped burns on my knees, left foot, and face!

We all had a blast, though! Paul got to do his crazy death-drop water slides, whilst I enjoyed the lovely tunnel slides. Jenna loved the wave pool, because it gradually got deeper, so she could walk in as far as she wanted. She thought walking through the water was hilarious; we're not sure why, but it was really cute anyway!
My favorite part was going around the lazy river: Jenna just sat on my stomach and cuddled for like a half hour! T'was Bliss!

Bugs and Cars

Jenna has a new fascination with bugs! When she thinks she sees one on the carpet, she'll lie down on her tummy and get face-to-face with it! I'm trying to act interested and excited about the bugs so I don't pass on my irrational fears... but there's only so much I can take (especially spiders...ick)!

And I love the way she says 'car'! Sounds like she's from New Jersey or something :)

motivation

Simply wanting to do something (a.k.a. running) sometimes just isn't enough to get us doing it. We need a little motivation!
Which is exactly what I need to get me up in the morning! I mean, the night before, I can want to get up, plan to get up, even threaten Paul to get me up - but when that alarm buzzes, Man does your pillow feel soft and your bed warm! Hmmm...

So, I try to motivate myself:
-Gotta get in shape! Ah... come on - you're just gonna get pregnant again soon and be too sick to run... and get fat again...
-Gotta finish the book before Paul! (audio books on the ipod) Don't even bother - Paul walks to and from work: at least an hour of listening a day! You'll never even catch up to him!
-Gotta get ready for the day! Eh... I showered last week... I still smell good, right? :)

Andrea and I have now decided to motivate each other: If we both excercise (she doesn't like to run, so goes to the gym) four times in a week, then we get to do something fun that weekend (like shopping or a $1 movie). This way, I'll feel bad if I'm the reason she can't do something fun, and vice versa.

Any other motivational ideas?

un-retired

Lately, Jenna has been sleeping in until 8:30! And I've been taking advantage of this by sleeping in (for those of you who think 8:30 is sleeping in...)!
Well, I've been thinking I need to be taking advantage of my mornings in a different way. You see, one of my goals in life is to become a wonderful morning person! If you know me well, you know this is going to take some work!
So, I've dusted off my old running shoes (yes, it's been years!), got up at 7am (the alarm was set for 6:30...), and actually went running this morning! I only ran for 15 minutes because, let's face it, I'm out of shape and it's all I could do! But now I feel great!

Jenna just now woke up, and I've already:
gone running
listened to some of The Magician's Nephew (Chronicles of Narnia)
gave hubby a proper good-bye (opposed to the usual roll-over-and-grunt)
showered
ate breakfast
read scriptures
...and now I'm going to get my sweet little Jenna!
It's going to be a great day!
