Thanks Grandma!

Look what Grandma got me for my birthday! A great big box I can crawl in and play peek-a-boo with:

...Oh and I think something came inside it...

Just kidding - They love riding around in Jenna's new princess coupe!

Walking!

Jenna was taking like 2-3 steps at a time back and forth between Paul and me. We were absolutely thrilled and I ran to grab the camera. Then, Andrea came in and Jenna did this:

What's the deal? Andrea brings out the walk in my kid!

The balloon was her magic feather! She couldn't walk without it!

Worst doctor appointment. EVER.

Jenna's One-year Stats:

29 inches - 16 lbs 2 oz.
48th percentile for height - 0th percentile for weight
Yep, we're still in the zero-th percentile

It all started when I left the house five minutes before the appointment. It takes at least ten minutes to get there. Then, I somehow made a wrong turn (there are like 3 turns on the way to the doctor's office, don't ask how I got one of them wrong...) and it took a couple minutes to realize it and find my way back. Finally, I pulled in to the parking lot, got out, opened Jenna's door and just about went in to shock - Jenna was covered head to foot in throw-up. Gross. Jenna has never been sick, and I think has thrown up a total of three times ever. Of course it had to happen now. So, I grabbed the carseat and carried the whole thing in. I went straight up to the receptionist and said "I need to use your bathroom, she just threw up" while everyone in the waiting room looked at my baby like a leper. Jenna was perfectly happy (thank goodness) while I cleaned up her clothes and carseat. Although, this made us even later so we had to wait longer than usual for the doctor.
No good news there, either! Since she is still so underweight, we have to take her in for another blood test and something called a sweat test at the hospital. And, he says even if nothing is wrong with Jenna (as he highly suspects) I still have to put all my other children through this if they're this skinny (likely). And we can't put her in a forward-facing carseat until she's 20 lbs. sheesh.
And for the final cherry on top, I hadn't brought a change of clothes for Jenna, so the nurse put her jacket around her and helped carry our carseat to the car. That actually was very nice of her, but showed what an unprepared mother I am :(

What a day!

Somehow, we didn't get a picture with:

Thanks for coming everyone!

THE CAKE:

I made it! Cute, huh?

Jenna wouldn't just dig in, until we gave her a fork!

She drank lots of Guarana...

and ate lots of cupcakes!

Needless to say, Jenna was pretty wired and stayed up until 9:30! That's really late for her!

Happy Birthday Jenna!!!

Jenna turned one yesterday!

I really can't believe it. Really. I can't. And neither can most people who see her...

Her birthday party is going to be this Sunday evening. I'm pretty sure Jenna is excited to see all the people who love her!
But, here is what we did to make her actual birthday special:

-Dad stayed home from work almost all day!
-She wore her 3-6 mo. shirt for the last time (I'm packin' them all up)
-She watched Lady and the Tramp... sort of
-She got to eat her first M&M's (don't worry, I smashed them first)
-She had a lovely photo shoot courtesy of Andrea... photos coming soon!
-We went out to Panda Express for dinner - she really likes the orange chicken (I know, who doesn't...)
-We went to Sub Zero for icecream afterwards!
-She got to stay up late (10 minutes counts, right?)

We all had a pretty good day! She only had some cranky moments in the morning. And those were because we wouldn't let her feed herself certain messy foods... She is becoming SO independent!

Baby Steps

Jenna finally took her first steps yesterday!

We were playing with the Smiths and Jenna was leaning on Andrea. Andrea wanted to see how well she could stand, so backed away. Jenna took her first step, immediately followed by her second, third and fourth!

Paul didn't see it... :(
And she hasn't done it again yet :(

Jenna will often be walking along the couch or something, and if she needs both her hands she just lets go and stands there perfectly. But as soon as she realizes that she's standing or if we try to make her stand, she plays like she doesn't know how! She loves to be held, so I think she's pretending to not know how to walk as well so that she can be babied longer.
And the only reason she did it in front of us now is because she heard me say that she had to walk by her birthday or else she couldn't have a party.

Apparently threats work with her... That's good to know! :)

HIS & HERS

Paul and I have always been so good at sharing with each other...

UNTIL NOW!!!

They say that the biggest causes of stress in marriage are finances, kids, and communication.

Well, for us, it's this:

Who'd've thought milk's favorite cookie could be the downfall of a marriage?

Those of you who know me well know that I love my oreos. I recall something about me and a bag of oreos and one lonely night freshman year... details unimportant...
Anyway, when we get them, they're usually gone before Paul even remembers we bought 'em.
It's causing quite a rift between us. The only solution we could come up with is to buy two bags and we each get our own. Sounds fair, right?

Now, my only problem will be staying out of Paul's bag once my is gone...
