Back to school

Jenna was so excited to start school this year! After we met her teacher, she begged me to start school a day early (I like that she thinks I may have that power). I'm so glad she loves her school, and I'm grateful for her awesome teachers who make it so fun for these eager learners.

As part of our back to school preparations, she really wanted to get her hair cut short so we let her get it cut up to her chin. She loves it, and it's so much easier to brush!
Now our big girl is ready to conquer the second grade!

Liam is enjoying being in charge while Jenna is gone, and we're trying to make the most of our time while Gavin naps (poor middle child).
One day he wanted to paint his nails, so of course I obliged and we had a fun fingernail paint party. Paul wasn't too pleased with this activity for his boy (especially since we were headed to a friend's house for dinner), but I say it's a good opportunity to practice fine motor skills ;)

I usually like to do my grocery shopping at night, sans children. But I don't mind going for just a few items during the day. Liam was super excited one day when we had to run to get a couple things for dinner with the missionaries, because he finally got to be in charge of the cart!

Gavin is now going to bed at the same time as the other two. Yay, Paul and I finally get our nights back!
Consequently, he and Liam are waking up together and entertaining each other, giving me a few minutes each morning to myself after Paul and Jenna leave for the bus. They play peek-a-boo, Liam throws a bunch of toys in the crib, and sometimes reads to his brother. Such sweet boys!

 ...and a couple of monkeys!
